A quick note to draw your attention to the beautiful Fiona Burnett, a soprano saxohponist from Melbourne.
We've just finished some updates on Fiona's site to coincide with the release of her new CD - 'Imagine - Modern Day Standards'. Fiona's site incorporates some Flash and self updateable news areas for quick and easy content filling.
If you're not all shopped out with the Boxing Day sales pop over to the site to buy the cd online at the ABC shop.
Have a great New Years everyone and remember Jager bombs are only fun if you keep it to one....maybe two.
Cheers (literally)

We've been working like little elves this week and one of the things we've just finished is a Christmas greeting card for our newest client the LMI Group.
It's a flash movie that they've sent out to their clients which highlights all their staff. It's an opportunity for their clients to put some faces to the names they deal with throughout the year and have a bit of fun at the same time. Wendy from LMI came up with a clever concept for the animation and we took it from there.
It got us into the Christmas spirit and you've probably noticed the change to our website. Perhaps a little cheesy - but everyone knows that's me....
Merry Christmas!

We've just finished our first Mac Dashboard Widget!
What's a Mac Dashboard Widget?
The Mac dashboard is home to widgets: mini-applications that let you perform common tasks and provide you with fast access to information. With a single click, Dashboard appears, complete with widgets that bring you a world of information — real-time weather, stock tickers, flight information and more — instantly. Dashboard disappears just as easily, so you can get back to what you were doing.
We've just created a widget that gives Mac users access to up to minute wind readings from weather beacons around Australia. St Kilda Kiteboarding will offer this widget to kiteboarders (like me) which compliments the existing wind information on their site. It was a labour of love more than anything, and a nice result in the end.
If you've got a Mac running OSX, why not give it a go! If you're interested in seeing what the dashboard and widgets look like check out this little demo on the Apple website
5 sleeps to go...

A quick note to welcome our newest client Martin, from One Man's Trash.
Martin has an eco friendly business that specialises in the all forms of rubbish removal, salvaging and recycling. Also a licenced second hand dealer, Martin can help with deceased estates, ex-tenancy clearouts and a whole lot more. At the moment we've setup his email address and a placeholder site that you can check out here - www.onemanstrash.com.au.
We look forward to the new year and working with Martin on the full version of his site.
Deck the halls,

We're proud to announce another partnership with Film Victoria for the upcoming Nicholas Cage film - Ghost Rider.
One of the first comics I fell in love with was a combined hardcover annual of three of Marvel's greatest. Spiderman, Thor and Ghost Rider. A story of each, then the combined mayhem of all three characters battling it out with evil at the end!
I'm not gonna spoil the story, but needless to say we're talking about an alter ego and someone whose destiny lies beyond his own control. Not to mention a flaming skeletal Harley Davidson ridden by a skeleton (also on fire) seeking justice.
Working on Charlotte's Web with the staff at Film Victoria was fantastic, they're an amazing bunch of people who are involved in an exciting industry. We're VERY excited about this project, ok....the excitement is a little more on my side than David's but hey, how can you not be! Look at the bike! More news as we get closer to launch date....
In the words of Nicholas Cage himself straight from Gone In Sixty Seconds.....
'Lets ride'

We'd like to welcome our newest client Cornwell.
Cornwell are a team of highly awarded brand identity and communication experts.
Sounds complex.... probably is, but essentially they help businesses identify what their brand is, develop ways to convey that brand, and then get it out there.
We are pleased to be working with Cornwell on 2 projects at the moment and will have a little more to share over the coming weeks.
All the best,
David

Congratulations to everyone who worked on the Charlotte’s Web microsite for Film Victoria.
We're please to announce that it has been awarded a Gold Medal by the Australian Web Designers Network for it's graphics, artwork, layout, navigability, functionality and originality
It was a great project to work on with fun people and all done on a tight timeframe - great work!
I feel like some popcorn.

There are plenty of ready made modules out there that you can add to your website. These give you the ability to do different things like add shopping options, search and news items - just to name a few.
Unfortunately it's often really hard to make them fit in with a site and perform all the things that you need them to do, or they are just poorly thought through, so you waste time sifting through each one to see if it's going to be what you need.
HD Design had this issue with one of their clients sites (Athletics Essendon), where the existing news function, although reasonably good, did not quite cater for all their needs.
After some discussion, we decided that it would be best to rebuild the news module from scratch and have been pleased with the result.
The new news module is database driven and allows the adminstrator to easily create and manage news items for their site.
Some of the features include...
You can view the news module in action at Athletics Essendon
It has been a nice project to work on and we are really pleased with the result.
Have a great weekend,
David
