Designer meets Developer

We've recently been lucky enough to have started work with Jane Sinclair. Jane is an accomplished designer who had a hand in the formative days of Cornwell Design with her husband Steven.

Starting with Soho Projects (more on that front soon) we've been able to move on to a placeholder for Jane's site at - www.sincalir.com.au. I've said it before but it's great to work with people who are passionate about what they do and Jane is no exception. We're looking forward to a great ongoing relationship and outcomes in the future!

Have a great week,
Mark

Melbourne Open House

We're very excited to be a part of this project. Another initiative by The Committee for Melbourne and the Future Focus Group for the International Design Festival, Efront is proud to be supporting the website development of the Melbourne Open House project.

Not only a great opportunity for us, but a fantastic way to highlight Melbourne's architecture and allow us to stop and take a look around this city we live in!

Just a placeholder at the moment, but watch this space over the next couple of weeks for more information!

All the best,
Mark

Blogging, tweeting and plurking

PlurkI admit freely I'm an 'opt in' kinda guy. If theres a new service on the web where I get to output all my personal thoughts and feelings to the world at large and all they want in return is my name, email address and custom? I'm in every time :)

Years back the world started blogging. When I was younger I built and ran a small community site that let me and my mates post stories, photos and then comment on said stories and photos. Sounds like a blog...because it pretty much was. TypePad, Wordpress, Blogger etc quickly turned up and owned this space, providing people the ability to install and run (on their own domain or not) their own blogs, inviting commentary and helping to shepherd in and encourage the micro community or blogosphere. Some of these are standalone websites like our mate Raj over at I Don't Quite Know who uses WordPress as a platform on his own domain, or something like this blog where we use Blogger at the moment as a small feed into the news section and part of our larger site.

Recently the blog has lost it's shine for me and I (like many others) have fallen for Twitter and Plurk. Short, 160-ish character micro blogging. Originally through some of my weekly podcasts like TWIT, Buzz Out Loud and Boagworld I heard about Twitter, the idea of micro blogging strange at first so I 'followed' some of these 'web-celebs' watching for interesting posts and good links. After a while you encourage a few friends to get on too and all of a sudden there's a shared information pool, a reason to go back. Throw into the mix applications for the iPhone like Twinkle that let you micro blog, with geo location AND a photo....they start to get very powerful.

In terms of look and feel though, I LOVE Plurk. It reminds me of my grommit skater days wearing Mambo gear (in a strange karmic twist Jeff Raglus is a client of ours) with it's kooky mascots. The timeline approach (one for you Flash dev'rs out there) is really fluid and intuitive. Conversations are fun to have and easy to follow. YouTube and image links automatically post thumbnails and drop into 'plurks' easily.

A blog post a few weeks back lead to a Plurk timeline conversation yesterday and then a meetup with Rhett from Wade Studios this afternoon at our office in Melbourne! Hopefully this type of connection can lead to some great shared projects between Rhett and Efront. Social networking, blogging, micro blogging, tweeting and plurking, how long it's got I have no idea but damn I'm enjoying it right now.

Enjoy,
Mark

Hello Melbourne

Wow, two years has gone by VERY quickly. It feels like only yesterday that Efront started out in Rouse St, Port Melbourne.

We've had a great ride to date and Port Melbourne has treated us well. From my desk here I can see the West Gate Bridge out one window, over to the Docklands and all the way across to the MCG. Swivelling 180 degrees I can watch people load themselves (and their cars) onto the Spirit of Tasmania and look out across the Bass Strait.

Needless to say we'll miss the view.

In saying that, it's damn exciting to me moving on, especially into the city. The view isn't quite as good, but there's something to be said for moving from the perimeter right to the thick of it. From Monday Efront will be moving to a new address:

Efront
Level 4, Suite 5
360 Little Collins St
Melbourne, VIc, 3000

Outgrowing our space in Port Melbourne, we're moving to an office three times the size and much more centrally located. Put onto the new office by the boys at Studio Play we're looking forward to working alongside them in the heart of Melbourne.

It's going to be a busy weekend of moving and but I'm sure we'll be ready to go first thing Monday morning!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Mark

Soho Projects new placeholder website

"Established in 2000, SOHO Projects has gained a national reputation for quality fitout projects such as cafes, restaurants, bars and retail shops. With unparralled experience in the retail sector the brand has extended to include commercial office, fitness centres and hotels. SOHO is led by two brothers, Josh and Shay Nassi."

www.sohoprojects.com.au

We're excited to be working with designer Jane Sinclair and Soho Projects on their new website! We've just launched the placeholder which gives a small company overview, a little bit of video and holds a registration form, allowing Soho Projects to capture interest in their upcoming ventures.

An exciting job for an exceptional company teaming up with a great designer.

Who could ask for more!

Have a great long weekend everyone,
Mark

elm site live! (lowercase on purpose)

"Since 1997 Fridcorp have been developing and creating spaces with personality, intelligence and beauty. Developments built in prime locations, each ingeniously married to its environment. Smartly positioned for a focus on living. "

www.elmapartments.com.au

It's been a great job working with Cornwell on this site for Firdcorp. Starting with a placeholder a month or two back and getting to a full site for todays launch was a challenge with a great outcome. The site looks great and congrats to all involved.

Cheers
Mark
